“Rich people have small TVs and big libraries, and poor people have small libraries and big TVs.” – Zig Ziglar
One of the best gifts you can ever get is a good book. Within the covers of a single book are ideas that, if acted upon, have the power to rescript every part of your life. Few things are smart as investing in becoming better thinker and developing a strong mind. Relentless learning is of the main traits of an open and powerful person. And an obsessive and ongoing self-education is one of the greatest survival tactics to get through turbulent times. The best people seems to have biggest libraries. While almost reading will improve your mind, in a world where there is too much to do, you must be selective in the books you read. And so, I suggest you spend much of the time reading what Thoreau called ” The heroic books”- those books that contain “the noblest recorded thoughts of man.” Let your mind drink deeply from the works of great philosophers, such as Epictetus and Confucius. Study the poems of the wisest poets, such as Alfred Lord Tennyson, Emily Dickinson and John Keats. Read the writings of Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Mother Teresa. Connecting with such works for even a few minutes a day will keep you centered on what life is really about and will ultimately profoundly affect your character.
Warren Buffett once said “the more you learn the more you earn” and that is so true. Look at successful people like Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Mark Cuban, Oprah and any other highly successful people . They are successful because they used their time right. They are successful because they are life time learners.Successful people commit to learn new things every single day.Warren Buffet one of the wealthiest human on the earth is famous for reading more than 5 hours every day.Bill Gates read one book per week.Mark Cuban 3 hours a day.Oprah, well she is just obsessed with the books.Notice the common theme here that successful people never stop learning.
Think about this
You have 86400 $ to spend every day and when the day is over the money disappear and you can’t get it back. Will you try to spend all of the money before it disappear , will you try to use it wisely or use it as best you could. The sad part is we have only 86,400 seconds every day and most people take this time for granted and most people let this time disappear without any second thought. We can use this time to do things we enjoy or use it to set up our life. So, we can spend our future doing more things we want to do instead wasting your time on meaningless things use it to learn new things. The time you spend playing video games or partying with your friends will never come back. Once you used that time it is gone forever. So use you time Wisely , read books ,study hard and learn as much as you can.
The richest man in the world was once asked , which superpower he would like to have , and Bill Gates said that he want the ability to read books faster.Success is not about the money, the big house, the fame but it’s about becoming the best version of yourself. And the books will guide you through the path of success. So read as much as you can.
